Mildew Resistant Drywall is Not Enough

Mildew resistant drywall is considerably more expensive than regular drywall and waterproofing is an added expense, but it's worth it. A moldy house can cost you even more that, if not your health. But have no fear, the doctor is here.

We've said it before and we'll say it again: mildew resistant drywall is not enough for wet areas alone. Proof as to why the top of these tiles have mold behind them. Every wet area needs to be waterproofed for your health and the health of your home.
What's the big deal?
Interestingly enough drywall paper is a tasty delicious snack for mold. Add some oxygen and frequent moisture and you can have your very own mold colony. But it's going to cost you your health, and the building materials that tend to rot away in those conditions.
It might seem like drywall resistant to mold might be enough, but soon you will see why that simply isn't the case. Let's dig in.

The mold here may not seem very obvious, but many bathrooms are just like this one: the underside of their tile is riddled with mold, even with mildew resistant drywall.
The problem is that it's only resistant to a degree. By removing the organic paper on the outside of the drywall mold is less attracted to it. That's where you get your resistance, but it will never be enough.
Waterproofing is an extra step we take to reduce structural damage and prevent condensation within walls that lead to mold growth and wood decay (a lot of pesky microorganisms thrive in that type of environment).
Ultimately this extra step reduces maintenance costs in your home like peeling paint, rotten wood, severe infestations, all of which require assistance from the doctor. Waterproofing saves homeowners thousands of dollars in future repairs.
Lucky for you, the doctor has extensive knowledge and experience in waterproofing. Every job from from his office receives the proper substrates and waterproofing where needed.
